Is it true that James Brown once sat on a chair through the whole GMF soundcheck with rollers in his hair?
Yes. This was at the AVO session 2000. When we started playing during our soundcheck James Brown came with his tooth brush in his hand and rollers in his hair, sat down on a chair on the side of the stage and listened through the whole sound check. We felt very honored.

Who writes your songs?
We all do. Usually someone has a rough idea and we jam the groove until someone else has another idea for a horn line, someone else for a vocals part etc. The songs keep evolving, even after we start playing them at concerts or record them.

A few songs, like some of the ballads, were pretty complete when Chnufi or Booxy first showed them to the rest of us.
Currently Booxy is acting as MD (musical director), meaning that he has the last word when it comes to arrangements etc. This is sometimes a problem, because he is so stubborn.

Where can I get a hard copy of Heebie Jeebies Dance?
The album is sold out everywhere. You may write kapellmeister@gmf.ch a very polite email and convince him to burn you a pirate copy...

Als ich neulich auf eurem Konzert war, habe ich gesehen, dass die Solisten immer zu Bean! rueberschielen, waehrend er wie wild auf der Buehne herumtanzt. Speziell ist mir das im Stueck 'Call Me' aufgefallen, das ueberhaupt mein Lieblings-GMF-Stueck ist. Spielt ihr das auch auf der neuen Tour?
Zur ersten Frage: Seit Anbeginn ist Bean! unser MC, das heisst: Master of Ceremony. Bei ihm laufen alle Faeden zusammen. Er spricht mit dem Publikum, und gibt Band-intern die Zeichen. Wenn nun also Reini sein Solo im 'Call Me' spielt und er langsam zum Schluss kommt, gibt er zuerst Bean! sein Zeichen, der seinerseits der ganzen Band den Uebergang in den naechsten Teil signalisieren soll. Da die Solosten zum Spielen in der Regel beide Haende brauchen, aeussert sich das normalerweise in einem Nicken oder Augenzwinkern. Weil wir uns aber alle in Ekstase spielen, kann es vorkommen, dass Bean! sich vergisst, was zu einem umso nervoeseren Augenzwinkern beim Solisten fuehren kann, oder gelegentlich in Fusstritten gipfelt.

Zur zweiten Frage: 'Call Me' war bis jetzt unser groesster Hit und macht uns immer noch Spass zum spielen, selbstverstaendlich ist dieses Stueck auch im neuen Programm.

Do you ever play in the U.K.?
The last time was in 1997 (Jazz Cafe, London). Currently no U.K. tour is planned.

Please go through the following steps:
(1) Be cute
(2) Approach your favorite band member after the concert
(3) Offer your favorite band member a drink
(4) Help your favorite band member pack up his instruments
(5) If you bypassed step #1 or step #4 offer your favorite band member another two drinks
(6) Repeat step #5 if necessary
(7) Register for formal training (TLC)
